THE RAIDERS SPECIES: VERTIGAL (plural: Vertixes)

Coming from the frozen world of Vertences, Vertixes are one of few species to know their homeworld. This race of fox like canines are very centered on military and technological advancement. They are known mostly for their six ears and small size. Despite their size they are very strong as their planet is slightly more massive than others. Because of the frozen nature of their planet, all life on Vertences, including Vertixes, live beneath the surface in and near geothermal caves, but a great many things also live in the colder caves. Due to the low light of many of these caves, Vertixes mainly use echolocation to see and have such precise hearing that they can feel texture with sound. They also possess great night vision as bioluminesence tends to lighten many flora filled caves. Their legs are great at jumping which helps them navigate the greater caves of their world and their thick fur keeps them warm. Vertigan cities are very unique, typically being shaped by the caves they are built in. They are typically built in massive caves, one by an underground ocean is typically the best choice. Despite their limited surface access, vertixes have achieved intersteller status as of millenia ago like many others and have spread influence, becoming a very common species. Their similar genes to many also allowed cross-breeding to give many other common races the digitigrade legs they have. Vertixes come in two colors, blue and green, and some even grow horns and split horns like small antlers. The horns are often seen as a sign of power and strength, as many high ranked officials have them. Another type of vertigal is said to exist but hasn't been confirmed yet. A multicolor, bioluminesent, deep cave dwelling vertigal, that may have gone extinct hundreds of years ago.

After the century war, a Vertigan ship was on its patrol when it stumbled across an anomalous reading in a nearby system. The ship went to investigate, a deeper scan in system showed the signal to be coming from a moon. The ship moved in slow, maintaining scans. The signal source came from. A leftover berretans moonbase that was completed just after the war, too late to enter. Penetrating scans would not enter the structure, so the vertigan ship began using a drill beam to cut under the surface. The moonbase however was occupied by pereta forces and this would be the day of their awakening. The moonbase grabbed the vertigan ship with an attractor beam and was waiting to charge weapons to destroy it. The vertigan ship had weapons troubles as the gimbals were locked by the beam. Eventually they ere able to blast the emitter and get free. They pulled away to warn the galaxy, but were being jammed and a giant berretans warship, now under pereta control, went to intercept the destroyer. A chase battle commensed. A scan revealed holes in the destroyers shields and the vertigan ship maneuvered for a missile Salvo. The massive gemini-class was disabled and broke away, but the vertixes were too late. The moonbases weapons came online and blasted the ship to dust. Moonbase Alpha had come alive and later Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Epsilon followed. The Reconstruction War had begun.

The Vertigal species has several variances. The most common is the Blue Vertigal

They, like ever other vertigals have 6 ears. 4 normal sized ones on the back of the head, and 2 small ones on top.

A little less common is the green Vertigal.

Exactly the same, but with green instead of blue.

Both can come with horns near their smallest ears.

Less common than just horns are split horns.
